PLEASANTON (KCBS) ? A Pleasanton family is appealing to whoever broke into their home Tuesday morning to please return their pet dog.

Pleasanton Police said somebody smashed the rear sliding glass door of the Castronovo home on San Gabriel Court Monday morning and ransacked it, taking laptops, jewelry and other small items.

But more important to 15-year-old Cynthia Castronovo, her prized pet pug Holly was also gone. Police aren?t sure of the 5-year-old dog was stolen or if it ran off during the crime.

Cynthia said the dog is her best friend, it sleeps with her and the whole family is distraught over her disappearance.

The family has filed a missing pet report and is also appealing to anyone who might have taken the dog to return it.

Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact the Pleasanton Police Department.
